Bandhej dates back to the 6th century Indus Valley Civilization. The art of bandhej is a highly skilled process requiring both time and patience. Raidana bandhej is one of the finest and costiliest types of Bandhej available in India. Nowadays The Khatri Community of Kutch and Gujarat are producing the finest quality of Bandhej all over India.

Madhubani Painting, or often known as Mithila Painting is a folk art of Bihar state of India. It is around 2500 years old when locals of Mithilanchal region of North Bihar used to decorate their home walls with drawings using bamboo sticks. It became popural during Sita's Swaymwar(i.e. wedding) when her father; then King Janak ordered his countymen to redecorate the city with Madhubani Paintings.
